Coasthawk Tarpon (31801 bytes)

Jim Farley says, "This fish jumped so close to the boat once, it left a trail of greenish-grey tarpon pookie across the gunwale and my T-shirt!"  Jim caught this fish in September of 1997 off High Island aboard the "Full Nelson", and Capt. Whiteboots took the photo.

This 1937 photo shows President Franklin D. Roosevelt with a tarpon he landed off the jetties in Port Aransas.  Roosevelt was fishing with Don Farley, in a 24-foot Farley-built boat.  Holding the tarpon are Barney Farley and Roosevelt's son, Elliot. In the bow is a secret service guy and a coastie. Don Farley said of FDR's angling skills, "When the tarpon would pull, he would and when the tarpon would quit, he would".
